Mentor Blog

This weekend was the first weekend where I used my homemade protein bars after my workouts. I also established my dad as a mentor as he has extensive knowledge of food and how to affects our bodies when we eat. He cooks almost every meal for my family and makes them all nutritious and tasty. Trust me, he spends way too much money on our grocery bill. He have me a few tips on how to preserve the bars longer and make them taste better this weekend. I had a track meet on Saturday and after I had one of my protein bars to get my muscles into recovery mode. The bar had about 30 grams of protein and filled me right up. I hadn't eaten for about 8 hours, and after I ate that bar I wasn't hunger. I actually lost weight when i weighed myself the next day. I looked online and I found that eating lots of protein makes you feel more full. Now maybe as a side objective for my project I can see if my bars actually make me lose weight by making me for full. What's next for my project is to continue to have one bar each day when I get home from track and none when I don't workout. I want to tweak my recipe and use vanilla protein powder instead and see how those tastes. Also i'm going to add more milk to make the bars softer and less chewy. Another option is to cut the milk altogether and add a substitute to give the bars a longer shelf life.
